What were you doing on 9/11/01?
i was in third grade at the time. My dad was dropping me off at school when we heard on news radio 780 WBBM, that a plane has hit one of the towers in New York City. Me and my dad heard it, and thought it must have killed a lot of people. I was outside of school talking to my friends, and we were talking about what we heard. By the time we entered school, we heard over the PA that all teachers meet outside the main office. When they came back, thet informed us another plane hit the second tower. Over the PA. the principal came on saying the United States was attacked, and we prayed. By 10:30, the teachers were called again, informing both towers have collapsed, and that the pentagon was hit. By 2:45, we knew everything, but being so young, it was hard to understand.
My mom, director at CDOT (Chicago Department of Transportation) had meeting with the upper staff, and decided to evaquate all of the metro downtown area. My mom was THE last person out of downtown. The metra trains were just loading and going out of LaSalle Street Station.
I saw my mom pick me up from school....and we just watched the news for hours. At 7:00pm, a neighbor came up saying put a candel on the front porch, and participate at a memorial mass at church. EVERYBODY in the neighborhood about came and were all sitting outside, inside, anywhere they could fit. A projector had on the news, and radios, but it was dead silent. By 10:00 pm, my mom told me in very simple terms what happened, and i cried. Truley, i had no true recollection of what happened intill the past few years.
We would later find out my uncle, John Collins of Lader 25 in FDNY was killed on that date.

Re: What were you doing on 9/11/01?
I was in third grade getting ready for school and I knew what was going on but I cared more about getting to watch TV than the news at the time, so I knew what was going on but I was too young to care.
I wish I was 3 or 4 again, there was no school and I never even had to do or even understand anything.

Re: What were you doing on 9/11/01?
I was 5 or 6 when it happened.
I never understood it fully untill yesterday when I watched "106 minutes that changed our lives".
There is a scene where a man is filming a firefighter (All real footage BTW), and all of the sudden you can start to hear a scream, and then it stops with a BANG. A jumper. The camera pans and you can see everything. My family almost vomited. The firefighters nearby had brains and blood on their suits because the jumper landed 5 feet from them.

Yep.
About a half hour into the program. I have it recorded. We're watching it again.

You sick freak...
There is some kinda video I heard of where a Congressman blew his own brains out with a gun up his mouth in a meeting on camera. I haven't seen it but my friend says he went up into his room after watching in and didn't want anyone to even talk to him for an hour.

I meant the program as a whole, not that specific part, man...Axl777 wrote:You sick freak...

LOL! I wasn't serious. Nah, I am hardly ever serious, I am a pretty laid-back person unless I am insulted.
